If I follow Jesus many people will think less of me. I will be vilified by Christians and non Christians alike, perhaps more feircly by professed Christians than by non believers. All of this is guaranteed by Our Lord Himself. If I am not offending people in and outside the Church, then I’m probably not following Christ.
shows who God favors and what pleases God compared to what or who God will be displeased with and Judge. That we will also face persecution, when we live a life that truly pleases our Savior. That God knows what we go though and also will reward our suffering in Heaven even though we truly do not deserve such blessing. Our God washes away sin and then rewards our Good works and sufferings. Praise God. any suffering we go through is worth knowing our Lord. In fact there is nothing compared to knowing Christ my God.Philippians 3:7-11.. I do not deserve His Love. Thank you Jesus for loving me,
I found it interesting listening to the lecture because, in my mind, it seems that these scriptures apply to us as Christ followers. I continually tell my brothers and sisters in Christ that “if you aren’t being mistreated and getting grief from people about your walk, you are walking in the wrong direction. Over the past 8-10 years God has worked hard on my heart to teach me that not everyone who professes Christ is really a Christ follower and even though I always known about the ‘sheep and the goats’ everyday I begin to see how that will happen around me every day. I live in a small town, rural where most folks are members of some mainline church. There are ten churches in this small area and I’ve begun to believe, like Lot, I wouldn’t be able to find a handful of people who really have the heart of the savior and it breaks my heart. So whether or not the blessings are for Christ followers, which I totally believe, and the woes are for “fake” Christians, which I also believe I have found in my walk that I have to be as “wise as a serpent” along with gentleness. I must use the gift of discernment all the time.
Great course!
The blessings and woes found in Luke 6 are similar to Jesus’ Beautitudes. Luke 6 and Sermon on the Mount speaks on the unfortunate and the those less fortunate.
That we don’t have to be ‘macho’ in the world’s eyes, because we have a truly ‘macho’ God. “God will be the fully macho judge one day.” We can live confidently by His Kingdom values and flourish under God’s reign. Ours is the kingdom of God.
