One of the turn-offs for me and other people I know as well is the emphasis placed on tithing and collections. While there is nothing wrong with tithing, I once witnessed a church collecting money to buy a television for the pastor. What happened to the poor of the church? The best way to eliminate hypocrisy in the church is to focus on Jesus teachings and the way he lived his life and emulate that.
