Lesson Overview
In one deliberate choice, paradise is lost. In this third lesson, Dr. Young takes a sober look at the tragedy of Genesis 3 and asks the critical question: What is God going to do? Professor of New Testament, Dr. Erin Heim, will explore the concepts of sin and rescue in the letters of Paul the Apostle. Also included is a pastoral application from Denver Seminary alumna and board member, Elisa Morgan in her article, “Silencing the Hiss.”
Lesson ObjectivesWhen you complete this lesson, you should be able to do the following:
- Describe the tension introduced in Genesis 3.
- Have a deeper understanding of God’s response to Adam and Eve’s rebellion.
- Identify God’s judgment, mercy, and grace in the story of Adam and Eve’s rebellion.
- Explain how Genesis 3 reveals the pattern and theological foundation for God’s redemption.
- Explain the themes of redemption present throughout the Old Testament and how this informs our understanding of Jesus as Redeemer.
