Because the Old Testament is the foundation of our Christian faith. Without the Old Testament, we can’t comprehend fully the New Testament. Because the Old Testament gives the background knowledge of the Bible. The prophecies in the Old Testament boost our faith in the New Testament’s fulfilment.

Jesus quotes the Old Testament, plus the history of the Israelites is in the OT. There is a red thread – Jesus – that runs through the OT.

Without the OT, Christ’s death wouldn’t have the significance for us as it does. Honestly, it probably wouldn’t mean anything to anyone except for his family. It also shows us the depth of God’s love for us and what he is willing to do because he wants us to have eternal life with him.
