I feel Exegesis is easier, because you are understanding the authors original mesage to the original listeners. Hermeneutics which then seeks to relate the original message to current situations may be more challenging because its prone to different interpretations , which can be misleading

From what I have studied and learnt about exegesis and the little I have read about hermeneutics, I have realized that they are both equally challenging because I will need to have a more solid understanding of exegesis for me to be able to understand hermeneutics.

I think that they are both equally challenging. With exegesis we have to discover all the facts of the text. Time, place, who, what was going on. How did the text fit into that time period. Then with hermeneutics we need to translate all that information and fit it into today’s world and culture.

Exegesis has to be more in-depth than hermeneutics because we have to understand the original context before applying hermeneutics.

I find that exegesis is more labor intensive as it causes you to peel back the layers of the written word for understanding it’s original purpose and meaning. Hermeneutics cannot be applied until the research is done through the process of exegesis before application to modern times.
