Being a teacher, students often ask me about the existence of God and prevalence of evil in the society. I most of the time used the explanation so nicely given by CS Lewis – If you really wanted to know about the existence of God, look no further, He made you in His image. Every questions about the existence of God can be found in you. Life comes from life. Intelligent minds must be created by an Intelligent Creator.

It happened in office when there was a celebration for Diwali. I didn’t participate much. My colleagues were pushing me commenting that Jesus is also a preacher like anyone. I had to teach them that he is son of God. His birth was foretold in Old Testament itself. He is fulfillment of the scriptures written even before he was born. He was killed shedding his blood for our sins and rose again from the third day to show us that he was the son of God. He teachings are for the betterment of our lives.

Though not very frequently I do get into situations whenever God has opened the kind of conversations where I would eventually be pushed into defending our faith. Sometimes it’s with friends from other belief systems and sometimes with my colleagues.

It’s not once that I have to defend my faith in my country India. The advent of a saffron government in the past 10 years made the things much worse for non-Hindus here. The persecution is at peak for Christians lately. People are not allowed to accept Christ even they are convicted of their sins. Anti-conversion bills are are officially passed by governments in order to curtail Christianity as people are adopting Christianity as their religion. I was personally asked about my faith and sometimes humiliated. By God’s grace we able to cope up with the situations and going forward in faith .
