Book that progress the story forward are categorized at “time”, compared to “color” books which add important details to the story. I believe that Dr. Buzzell grouped the book of Ruth into the “color” category because this story gives important details about a woman and her mother-in-law. The story paints a beautiful picture of love and how Ruth stood by Naomi, even during difficult times. Ultimately, Ruth’s devotion to her family lead her to Boaz. The detail of this story highlight the themes of devotion and obedience, thus the book of Ruth is best categorized as “color”.
