Jesus had to die to pay for man kinds sin. He then had to resurrect to defeat death, to enable all the Christian brothers and sisters to see Heaven after death.

Second if Jesus did not die for our sins we would have had to prepare an alter and a sacrifice with a burnt offering to please the Lord. Lastly, if Jesus did not die upon the cross evil would run rampant through the Earth with a higher trajectory.
