What did you learn about the Sermon on the Mount and/or Matthew’s gospel that you didn’t know prior to taking this lesson?

I cannot say I learned anything “new” about the Sermon on the Mount and/or Matthew’s gospel, but I greatly appreciate the exhortations included. The early church wanted to know how God wanted them to live, not how the leaders of the day wanted them to live. Jesus wanted, wants, His followers to live out the life according to the Sermon on the Mount in full view of the world in which they live. The question remains, “Are you going to follow Jesus or not?”

I learned that the theme of the sermon on the mount is spread through out Matthew’s gospel.

I didn’t know about the inclusio framework. Was that a common mechanical tool used in writing during that era? Do we still use that today?

The inclusio – Matthew 4:23 and 9:35. I have heard most of the contents before, but I appreciate how clearly and concisely the lecturer presented the Outline/Overview. Thanks and Blessings!
