In our prayers we can listen to Him as a child listens to his/her Father. In our prayers God can lead us and guide us through life. Through our prayers He can give the peace, content, and joy that is unspeaking and that can only come from Him.

We need God’s guidance in all things; we are nothing, can do nothing, without our connection to Him, and that is our prayer life. Jesus is our example, and if He felt the necessity to be dependent on the Father, we have even a greater need.

Prayer is an important part of the Christian life, and it is also a way to communicate with the Lord and grow in our relationship with Him. Through this relationship, God will bless us and change us to be like Jesus – deny ourselves, take up our crosses, and follow Him (Luke 9:23).
