Overview and Objectives

Lesson Overview

Making assumptions can be detrimental to any relationship. In this lesson, Dr. Welch identifies choices we can make to weed out and prevent negative assumptions in our marriages.

Lesson Objectives

When you complete this lesson, you should be able to do the following:

  • Explain what it means to judge your partner correctly.
  • Define “unspoken truths” and identify them in your own marriage.
  • Work with your partner to change damaging unspoken truths.
  • Understand ways in which you take your partner for granted.
  • Implement strategies that will help you and your spouse not take each other for granted.
Personal Reflection

As you proceed through this lesson have the following question in mind.
What do you think about completing the “unspoken truth” exercise? (If you’ve already done this with your spouse, reflect on the experience here.)
