Our curriculum should be surrounded by God’s word. It should be begin and end with God’s word.

I think this illustration shows how we should look at what we teach. The curriculum and scope and sequence are important but they need to be framed in God’s word. We need to look at each topic from a Biblical perspective and how we can weave that into every area that we teach. This also helps the student understand that all topics can be directed back to the word of God.

Dr. Black is illustrating that you cannot separate the Bible out of other subject content. They must be infused/integrated correctly otherwise, our Christian Philosophy cannot stand. Christian Curriculum cannot stand alone, it must be built upon and integrated with scripture as the foundation and woven into every subject and every aspect of our teaching. We must be able to articulate this clearly to our students and model it daily.

Our curriculum is not only built upon the foundation of Scripture but also is covered by Scripture.

She is illustrating that all of our classroom materials should be influenced by God’s Word. We should start and end with His word to ensure that our students are immersed in Christian principles.

I talk to other teachers as well as read blogs and articles published by other teachers. This course is also a way to grow the mindset.

I am constantly challenging myself to learn new things, research topics that relate to what I teach, and to grow in God’s word.

I get up in the morning and journal, pray, reading the bible and talk about what I have to do and come up with my schedule and of course it goes God’s way most of the time. But I get everything done and anything else that comes my way.

As an educator, I chose the profession knowing I would be a life-long learner. Since I am neither happy with mediocrity and always want to strive toward whatever may be God’s next step in my life, I remind myself that in order to be an effective educator, I must seek after knowledge, techniques, and professional development to enhance the gifts I have been given.

I seek mentorship and advice from teachers who I see excelling in areas where I am weak. I desire to explore techniques outside my comfort zone if it means my students receive a better education.
