People want to know why they are here. I feel that everyone deep down wants to know their purpose in this world. I also feel like many people are trying to fill a space in themselves by answering the questions about the meaning of not just life, but their life. People ask questions about the meaning of life because they don’t want to believe that there life is meaningless.

We all, including myself, want to know that we have more meaning than just wandering aimlessly throughout time and space. We all have a craving for acceptance and approval. We are in search for self gratification but fail miserably and when we do, we feel lost and alone. So we start searching for meaning in various forms. Some turn to alcohol, drugs and sex to escape the loneliness and rejection. It is when we hit rock bottom that our search really begins. When we have nowhere else to turn and all that we have tried has failed us we begin looking up. It is then that we see God reaching down from the balcony of Heaven with an out stretched hand waiting for us to grab hold allowing Him to pull us up and set us on the right path. It is then that we can experience the meaning that God has delicately woven into our hearts and minds. It is then that He fills the void that once filled our meaningless lives. It is then that we feel the acceptance and approval we once hungered for.
So the answer to the question posed above, knowing the meaning of life is as important to the human psyche as breathing is to the body for without meaning our lives do not feel worth living and we cannot function or serve and worship the Lord as He intended.

I believe that when sin entered the world every human had a void or an empty space in their life. They were separated from God so they did not know what to do. Every human has been wandering around looking for the meaning of life ever sense. Most people try to fill it with other things hoping it will fill that space and answer that question to why am I here? What is my purpose? Why do I feel empty? Maybe if I drink this alcohol it will make me feel whole again? Maybe if I eat this food it will fill that space? Maybe if I take this drug it will bring me joy. Maybe if I buy myself some new clothes I will feel prettier? Nothing on this earth will ever satisfy us. All those things are temporary. Nothing can satisfy and fill the space in our life except the one that we were separated from in the first place. The only way to find out the meaning of life is to ask the creator of your life.

I think that people question the meaning of life because we desire to know our purpose, and along side that, our creator.
There are many suggestions that knowing our “why” in any situation is powerful, motivating, and renewing. I think our desire to know our “why” leads people to ask questions about the meaning of life.
