Overview and Objectives

In this introduction to the course, Dr. Knut Heim explains why the twenty-first century is a wonderful time to be studying biblical poetry. He provides a foundational understanding of what we should know as we approach and gain meaning from the Psalms as an exciting and imaginative exploration into the biblical world.

When you complete this lesson, you should be able to do the following:

• Understand how modern linguistics and hermeneutics help us better understand biblical poetry.
• Explain why Christians should study biblical poetry.
• Ascertain some of the exciting incentives God gives us for praying in Scripture.
