Let me start by saying everyone has their own way of praying and in a time of real trouble you might forget adoration or another point without meaning to. However in Devotions leaving one out negates the whole point of telling God how much you love and appreciate Him and know that He is the One in whom you trust. We’re really good at Supplication. But speaking for myself, those other three need more attention!

We would not have balance in our prayers to God.

I believe we’d be missing a key part of God’s character and relationship with God. God is not a God of just confession. He also is a God of thanksgiving and adoration, etc. I believe incorporating all four of these are important to have a balance relationship with God, and one that is based on Biblical Theology.

Leaving one of these four out would ultimately change our relationship with the Lord. We cannot have one without the other and still have the relationship with the Lord that HE desires us to have with HIM.

Knowing that Jesus is with you all the time, every minute, hanging on your every thought brings joy to me. I respond by constantly conversing with Him through prayer, praise, thankfulness and sometimes petition for others or myself

To have a continuous conversation or conscious contact with God it the ultimate goal. God is always with us, we are with God when we pray.

When we immerse our daily lives with God’s word and open dialogue, we grow closer to Him, relying on Him, rather than the world and ourselves to fill the voids. We draw closer without it feeling forced and grow spiritually.

I’ve tried this myself and I now do it regularly. I thank God as He keeps the robot green for me, as He finds a parking for me, as He gives me words (or a closed mouth) in business meetings during the day … the more I do it, the more I see Him in the tiny events throughout my day. I talk to Him openly as these events take place, thanking Him for them and chuckling with Him as if He were right there with me.
