Lesson Six takes us through the highest and lowest points of Israel’s history. From the introduction of her kings to her destruction and exile, God never abandoned His rebellious people.

When you complete this lesson, you should be able to do the following:

• Explain why the people of Israel wanted a king to lead them.
• Describe the four periods of the kingdom era.
• Name the three kings who reigned over Israel before it was divided.

As you proceed through this lesson have the following question in mind.
What caused King Saul to become angry and eventually led to his downfall? In what ways does this attitude persist today?
