Because it provides more details of the story, rather than move the story forward. Itaints a picture, so to speak, of the current events, rather than provide a timeline forward.

The book of Ruth does not move the narrative along necessarily, but it does provide greater details in setting us up for the birth of Kind David who is a prominent and necessary figure in the line of Christ. This book therefore adds necessary detail and color.

Because the color books add more picture to the story that was going on

Ruth is a book of detail; it does not move the story forward. It adds more detail to an already told story.

Because each book is like an event. Each book carries on what was left in the previous book. Whereas, some of the books digressed by giving commentary or providing spotlight on certain era.

The old testament has a beginning and an end. It tells about the great successes and tragic failures.

The narrative books begin where the previous ones end. There are some books that go into greater detail which the teacher refers to as the color books. If we were watching a movie, these would bog the story down. They are in essence almost like a break out story that needed more explanation.

He does because even though it tells us a story there are books that give just a little more detail to understanding the old testament and it’s story

Movies tell a story, and they often need “color” or detail to explain certain parts in more detail.
