Ruth did not move the story forward, but only gave us more insight into the genealogy of Jesus Christ.

Because it does not move the story forward, but gives details and further explanations of the OT

The story of Ruth is categorized as a ‘color’ book because while it’s an important event that adds detail to the main plot, it does not move the main storyline of the Old Testament forward.

Movies tell a story, but sometime there must be a section of the movie that expounds upon the story line. Ushering in more detail to the story line.

The time books is like a movie, telling the story from the beginning to the end. The Colour books provides us further explanation to the story in the movie.

Like a film, it doesn’t just tell the whole story, but stops along the way to give further explanations, expound on situations, give direction and shows us WHO God is in the big scheme of things.

The eleven ‘time’ books are spliced together like a movie reel; each one picking up where the last book stopped. The ‘color’ books add the additional details and explanation where it’s needed.

The time books move the story forward just like a reel of film moves continuously from beginning to end.
